Co.Down Duo is a Winning Combination

00News August, 14

Just when we thought Darran `The IceMan ` McMullan couldn’t step-up his game anymore, well think again as the Ballygowan man hooked up with local business entrepreneur Mr Gary Withers, owner of Peninsula Print in Newtownards. The family owned business based in Newtownards Co.Down is running close to 30 years and have helped Billy Murray and his ProKick team for over 20 years to create a winning combination.

Peninsula Print and Mr Gary Withers have been so kind to our group over the years. Said Billy Murray. “They/he helps us were possible and we appreciate very little bit of help given, especially when all businesses are fighting for their own corner in this difficult market place.

Check-out all the print-work by Peninsula Print for our ‘Lords of the Ring’ event; from Poster, flyers, pop-up banners and to recently erected banners covering the out-side of the Ulster Hall, thanks Mr Withers, see you ringside on fight-night.”

McMullan has less than four weeks to fight-night at the famous old Venue, the Ulster Hall in Belfast. The Ballygowan contender to the WKN world title is both British and Intercontinental Champion, and has a score to settle. He lost his WKN European title in Germany nearly 2 years ago to the German, and again only to lose by split decision at a rematch in Germany earlier in March this year.

Will this be third time lucky against the German champion, Wachs, said Billy Murray:
“The winners here will be the Fight-Fans at the Ulster Hall come September 13th, the first two fights were show-stoppers and I don’t expect anything less from the trilogy. Both McMullan and Wachs know each others fighting style very well now, so prepare yourselves for something very special from both. Darren has fought in Wachs’ backyard on two occasions – lets see how David handles the pressure of fighting in front of the Ulster Hall home crowd come fight-night.”

The former Co.Down man Murray, will stage a special silver jubilee event that will mark the 25th anniversary of the night he became a world Professional kickboxing champion for the first time, and by the way all the training for that fight took place in Murray’s old Gym in Pound St in Newtownards.

The Lords Of The Ring event will have a knock-out SEVEN World championship bouts with his own trained and managed home-grown fighters from the Home of Champions, the ProKick Gym. Murray will stage and host this landmark fight show on September 13th 2014.

Tickets are going well for this incredible night of world WKN kickboxing at the Ulster Hall.  You can also purchase directly from the Ulster Hall box office on 028 9033 4455 or over the phone at the ProKick gym in Wilgar St on 028 9065 1074 on-line at Lords of the Ring Event Page

Marks & Spencer has become the first retailer to use digital print

00News August, 14

Marks & Spencer has become the first retailer to use digital print opening the door to on-demand print for its Summer of Flavour Fruit Jellies.

Andrew Speck, commercial and environmental packaging manager, commented, ‘M&S and Ultimate have worked closely to develop food-approved digitally printed flexible packaging. Digital print allows small volumes of printed packaging to be produced, which enables new products to be trialled in-store. With no need for printing plates and a reduced artwork process, this has opened the door to on-demand print, something that conventional print techniques cannot deliver.’

The digitally printed, flexible packaging has been printed and laminated by Ultimate Packaging, a UK supplier of all the major UK retailers. As an M&S Hero Printer, Ultimate has supported it with the development of design and print standards for a number of key ranges.

The Fruit Jellies design has been reversed printed using only four process colours, plus white, to match the existing eight colour flexo specification. Laminating digitally printed film required specialist adhesives.

J&K Confectionery packed the product using its standard packing line to process and pack the digitally printed film.

Mark Trevethan, J&K Confectionery’s projects and development executive, commented, ‘The digitally printed film laminate supplied by Ultimate was excellent quality, and the packing process ran very smoothly. M&S confectionery products are premium and require premium packaging. The rich colour and fine detail achieved using digital print means the packs will look fantastic on-shelf.’

A recent letter we received from Shine, one of our chosen charities

Dear Mr Gary Withers

Thank you very much for all of your previous support in Shine’s fundraising activities. Our most recent event, Shine’s Family Support virtual balloon race, was launched on 2nd June. The winning entrant managed to travel a distance of 460 miles, from Liverpool to Amsterdam!
The monies raised from the balloon race will enable Shine to continue supporting over 5000 families affected by spina bifida/hydrocephalus. We do this by offering help and advice in a number of ways including:

  • Local support through one of our professional support workers
  • Expert health advice from our experienced nursing staff
  • Family events and weekends away when families can support each other
  • Events for siblings when they are the focus of attention rather than their disabled brother or sister.

The amount pledged in sponsorship for the event was over £36000, of which £17000 has been received to date.

Once again, thank you for all of your past support and we look forward to enhancing your relationship with Shine over the coming years.

Best regards
